Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg married Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy this past weekend. The civil ceremony took place on Friday, October 19 and the religious ceremony was held Saturday October 20th. Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg, 30, is the eldest son of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg. Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy, 28, is the youngest daughter Count Philippe de Lannoy and Alix della Faille de Leverghem.
The de Lannoy family traces its linage to the 13th century nobility of Hainaut. Their title of Imperial count/countess originates in 1526 and was bestowed on Charles de Lannoy by Holy Roman Emperor Charles V. Ever since the start of the 19th century Countess Stéphanie’s ancestors were burgomasters of Anvaing. Stéphanie’s counts Princess Beatrice de Ligne (1898-1982) as her paternal grandmother. Princess Beatrice was a daughter of Ernest, 10th Prince de Ligne, and he was the head of one of Belgium’s most powerful families.
The religious ceremony took place at Cathedral of Our Lady of Luxembourg. The bridal attendants were the bridegroom’s sister and nephew, and nieces and nephew of the bride:
